Harris & Associates has hired Joe Yew to lead its Northern California Public Finance team. Joe will serve as senior director and provide strategic guidance based on his more than 20 years of experience working for the public and private sectors.
Throughout his career, Joe has advised cities, counties, and state agencies with his in-depth knowledge of local government and public finance issues, budget and long-term financial strategies, economic development, municipal bonds, and financing, audits, and investments. As a municipal advisor, Joe assisted the City of Sacramento on their funding of the Golden 1 Center, as well as assisting large utilities such as the San Francisco Utilities Commission’s Sewer System Improvement Program projects.
“Joe’s breadth of expertise is a tremendous asset to Harris and our clients,” said Dennis Klingelhofer, Vice President of Public Finance of Harris. “He has consistently proven his ability to guide municipalities toward sound financial decisions and secure the necessary resources for important projects.”
Prior to joining Harris, Joe served as director for Hilltop Securities, Inc., where he provided financial advisory and underwriting services to public-sector clients, along with budget preparations, CAFR analyses, and assistance with issuing utility, general obligation, and lease-revenue supported debt. Joe also held the position of finance director for both the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and the City of Oakland. Joe was also a former Assistant State Treasurer for California.
“When you’re facing complicated financial issues where the stakes and taxpayer scrutiny are high, you want a trusted advisor who has been there before. Our clients have that with Joe,” said Dennis.
